Day 2

After a long day on Monday, we finally settled into our rooms. Everyone met at 7.30am this morning for a mini buffet breakfast in the cafeteria. There were a variety of delicious foods available including Chinese doughnuts, boiled eggs and the usual rice. After breakfast, we started school. We learnt many new interesting phases. The main phrase we learnt was ‘很高兴认识你’which means ‘very nice to meet you.’ Using this phrase, we stood up in front of the class and introduced ourselves. Throughout the rest of the morning, we learnt how to bargain, which will be very important when we go shopping. Straight after school finished, we had lunch. A mini buffet displaying the best food in China has to offer. After lunch, we had a few hours of free time, of which many played basketball together. Then we tested our artistic skills in Chinese painting. We had to paint three swans on a river. Some paintings turned out better than others, to say the least. A few hours of free time followed. For dinner we had chicken, extremely spicy duck and rice. Up until bed, we had a few hours of free time when most boys went swimming. All in all, day 2 in China was educational, yet fun.
