Day 3

Today we woke up for breakfast at 7:30 the breakfast was the same as every other day. It consists of rice, Chinese doughnuts and vegetables and boiled egg. We got on the bus at 8 in the morning headed towards Tianmen Square and the Forbidden City. It took two hours on the bus due to the bad traffic. When we got off the bus, we past security and entered (the biggest city square in the world). We gathered into a group to take a photo in front of the South gate of the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City was where the past Emperor lived. We walked for an hour and a half through the Forbidden City, reaching the north gate where Chen Lao Shi (Ms Chen) bought us all icy poles. The bus picked us up from the north gate and drove us to the original campus of Beijing Language and Cultural College. The lunch we ate at the original college taste better than the food at the new campus that we have been staying at. Once we had finished lunch, we hopped back onto the bus and headed to a Silk Street Shopping Centre and each group went their separate ways, Most of us struggled with bargaining at first, but eventually we got the hang of it and had mastered the skill of bargaining. As the shopping time went on one student became so confident that he offered 50 yuan ($10 AUD) for an item that the shop owner said was worth 3200 yuan ($641 AUD) … It didn’t work out and the lady told us to leave her store. We left the Shopping Centre at 4:10 in the afternoon getting back to the college we were staying at just in time for dinner. The dinner was very similar to last night yet still tasted nice (hen hao chi). After dinner we ran back to our Dormitory because of the thunder storms. We hung out in our rooms for the rest night because of the weather. Although the weather wasn’t great we had an awesome day.
